The I AM EQUAL Project is currently looking for angel donors and corporate sponsors for their upcoming world tour of photo events. If you know of anyone that is interested in furthering the cause of equality, education and human rights, please email Jarrod Philips ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) know immediately.

About the project

Equality is the only true measure of freedom. We cannot force that equality upon the world nor upon individuals – we can only inspire it in others. Only in equality can we find the peace this world hungers for – in freedom there is peace.

The greatest barrier of freedom is education. The greatest stumbling block for equality is ignorance.

The I AM EQUAL FOUNDATION is a global scholarship initiative dedicated to building peace and spreading freedom through education. They are committed to breaking the bonds of ignorance and empowering the human spirit to claim the power, passion, and freedom of equality.

Through this commitment they shape the very foundations of communities, nations, and the world.. With education we eliminate fear, poverty, and repression and replace them with the pure unending equality.

Charitable gifts and contributions fuel this world wide effort and ensure that thousands of children who otherwise would languish in fear and ignorance and given the chance to be free through the power of education.

I AM EQUAL is a global awareness brand dedicated to engaging humanity in a  conversation of equality and human rights with the intention of uniting people from all walks of life for the common good.

Through their photo events, they capture the passion, power, and beauty of individuals who are hungry to show their unique connection to humanity. Each photo captures a diversity of expression while the project en mass shows the unity of life that connects us all – a woven tapestry of differences that make us all the same.

For every person who takes a stand for equality and human rights through the project, at least 10 other lives are touched, inspired, and empowered. The I AM EQUAL experience of each individual becomes a viral expression of equality that opens the door for people to discuss, support, drive and create conversations that move the cause of equality throughout the world.

They are united in their passion to see change in our life time.

The program’s founder and CEO Jason Becket has this to say about the I AM EQUAL Project:

“Our program is simple – inspire global equality through education.

In terms of race, religion, sexuality, or culture equality means having an equal opportunity for expression without fear of reprisal – the chance to blossom in excellence as a rose in the desert. And, as precious as water is for that dessert rose, so too is education for the advancement of equality.

With contributors, sponsors, and partners like you, we can change the dynamic of peace on this planet and truly shift the balance for a free and unified world. Nourished by education, the cause of equality will blossom across the globe.

Please work with us to change the future. We ask you to step forward and contribute your resources to build the I AM EQUAL project around the world.”

On motivation in writing PDF Print E-mail

I do like to keep the front page here constantly changing, which can be tricky when I'm busy with the day job, the second job, looking for a third job and life in general. Some days I'll settle for posting a link to someone else's brilliance.  Case in point, the following article by writer Jay Lake that talks about motivation. Writing and Art are close cousins so the same advice can be applied. Since I get asked the same question in every interview I've ever done and countless times a week just by random people I thought it might make good reading for creative and non-creatives alike.

[process] On motivation in writing

(by Jay Lake)

I have been asked several times lately in several different ways where I get my motivation. Ultimately that’s a question that doesn’t have an answer, or if it does, the answer is intensely personal and thus essentially useless to anyone else, but I take the intent.

Visual Paths PDF Print E-mail

I ran across this article on Visual Paths at iStockphoto while I was browsing. Its very good advice as to the reason why some images work and others don't. Having an image be visually engaging is a must for a cover artist so I thought I would include a link to the article here for everyone to have a look at.

If we put too much randomly-placed visual information into an image, our audience doesn’t know where to look. The eye wanders about the image, and eventually falls off the edge without being really engaged. What we need to do is guide the viewers’ eye by placing visual paths of interest in our art. Unless you’re specifically aware of, and looking for visual paths you might not even be aware they’re there. But they’re often the hidden reason we “get” some images and not others.
